With life getting a little over busy lately, my partner and I wanted to get away for a few days to recoup and recalibrate. Flights and hotels are extra expensive right now, and there are many ‘hidden’ costs to short city getaways – coffee runs, restaurants, and shopping temptations, for example.
We also craved nature and simplicity. Slow mornings, fresh air, cooked meals, not off-grid but offline, if we wanted. But also a trip that didn’t feel like work, where we’d have to organise all the finer details of the trip (water, electricity, bathrooms etc).
The Coorong was on our travel list for local trips… and here’s what we found.
Choosing between the main house, luxury caravan or camping experiences offered at the Coorong Island Retreat, the fully equipped, lakefront luxury caravan was the best of both worlds – all the modern conveniences, on a rugged, secluded piece of pristine land on the Coorong.
Lakeside Farm Stay – Minutes to Town, Close to the Sea
‘Caravan’ doesn’t do it justice. It’s more like a terrific tiny house, with all the bells and whistles for it to feel like a real holiday.
A full kitchen and bathroom, a ‘dining’ area, a cosy queen bed, shower, and laundry facilities. And outside, a deck, BBQ, firepit and hammock, with table and chairs, and, get this, roaming farm animals. Top all that off with sunrise views from our bed and sunsets over our firepit.
The Coorong is a place for contemplation, and the ‘Yarli’ caravan creates more space for it, by taking care of all the to-dos that come with travel. Just bring food to cook, wine to drink, a good book, and great company.
It really doesn’t matter what mother nature has in mind. You’ll enjoy a cosy couple’s secluded stay or make the most of nature’s nearby attractions. Here it’s do as much or as little as you want.
With 100-kilometres of sand dunes that characterise the Coorong, this region has a sacred energy that welcomes adventure and restoration… and you can feel staying in the ‘Yarli’ caravan.
While dogs are allowed at the ‘Yarli’ property, we opted for a responsibility-free weekend. Our stay was a necessary reminder about the simplicity of life, how no distractions are a luxury. It’s become ‘our place’ to return to when our world needs rebalancing again.
Nature always has the answers. The ‘Yarli’ luxury caravan makes it possible to access them, affordably. Instead of having to save up for a big trip that goes by too fast, we can book a stay at the ‘Yarli’ caravan, and make local travel part a priority for our relationship
